I fondly remember my early art experiences with paper mache, clay my family found on a camping trip and after school art classes. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, encouraging art teachers let me explore many materials and work in my own way during junior high and high school. In college, I revisited clay and knew it was the medium for my area of focus. Form, surface texture, the feeling of the clay and the challenge of glazing had me hooked. I earned my BFA from Eastern Michigan University. In 1996 an artist-in-residence position brought me to Maine. The beautiful landscape, the calm pace of life and the friendly people have kept me here. Since 1998, I have taught art at a local school. Teaching the creative process and the principles of art complement my own creative explorations. Current projects in my home studio include sculptural ceramic pieces and monoprints.
